The Islands of Paris Walking Tour

OVERVIEW

The islands of Paris are the city's historical heart, with the Ile de la Cité being the site of the city's origins. You'll visit both the Ile St-Louis and Ile de la Cité to discover the quaint streets and important landmarks found on these two islands in the Seine.

Your private licensed local guide will introduce you to the delights of these two islands with their many bridges and explain their history with relation to the city.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Take a walk through time with this guided walking tour of the Islands of Paris. Your private licensed guide will take you to Ile St-Louis with its charming 17th century architecture; now haven for small boutiques and cozy restaurants. You'll feel as if you've been transported to a small French village rather than being in the heart of Paris!

Crossing the Pont St-Louis, you’ll arrive at the larger Ile de la Cité, where Paris was born centuries ago. It is home to the famous Gothic cathedral, Notre-Dame, where you'll enjoy a guided visit of the interior.  You'll also see the Conciergerie, one-time prison of Paris, where Marie-Antoinette was held prior to her execution during the Revolution, and the lovely medieval Sainte-Chapelle.
