A Day in the Chianti

OVERVIEW

The Chianti, situated between Siena and Florence, is possibly the most recognizable landscape in all of Tuscany. Renowned for its now world famous wine since 1398, the “Classico” area is the Chianti’s historic heart.

Discover this enchanting land on a private driving tour in your private, air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver. Leaving from your accommodation, you’ll take the old Chianti wine road that winds through the hilly Tuscan countryside through vineyards and olive groves. Your driver will tell you about the area and show you some stunning views, stopping to allow for panoramic photographs you’ll treasure always.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Your drive through the Chianti affords you glimpses of distant castles and sleepy hamlets. You’ll stop to visit the charming medieval town of Greve in Chianti with its main square, unique for its shape and surrounding porticoed walkways. One of Italy’s oldest butcher shops is found here.

What trip to this legendary wine region would be complete without a winery visit and tour?  You can visit the famous Castle Verrazzano winery for a guided visit of their historic cellars and wine estate along with a varied program of tastings from which to choose for an additional fee.
Continuing along the Via Chiantigiana toward Siena, you’ll visit the historic centers of Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti: two medieval gems with time included for shopping.
