OVERVIEW

Pisa & Lucca are two Tuscan gems. Pisa is most famous for its leaning tower and other monuments found in the “Field of Miracles”. These medieval architectural jewels are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their beauty & architectural significance.

The lovely, elegant city of Lucca is famous as noted composer Giacomo Puccini’s birthplace and for its wide, well-preserved city walls dating from the Renaissance.
Your English-speaking driver, at disposal for the excursion’s duration, meets you at the Port of Livorno’s arrivals terminal to convey you on a visit of these two unique towns in the comfort of a private, air-conditioned vehicle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Pisa, once a mighty maritime republic, financed its most famous monuments: the cathedral, baptistery, campanile (leaning tower) and cemetery, with earnings from trade and plunder from raids by its formidable fleet. These beautiful buildings were meant to reflect the Pisan Republic’s power and wealth.  Here, you’ll visit some of Italy’s most famous landmarks.

Next stop: Lucca, which has a long and illustrious history. The former Roman amphitheater was the framework for an intriguing piazza and its Renaissance walls have become a park and promenade, affording lovely views over town & countryside. Lucca boasts Romanesque churches, medieval tower houses, 18th century gardens and a Napoleonic square. You’ll enjoy discovering its numerous delights as well as the many artisan shops found here.
