DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The first stop of the tour will be Rouen, capital of Upper Normandy and famous for its splendid palaces like the one the Archbishop, the Palace of Justice and the “Grosse Horloge”, a clock from 1527 with its superb belfry topped by a dom. You will also stop at the Place du Vieux Marche’ where Joan of Arc was burnt on a stake and finish the private guided tour with the magnificent French Gothic Cathedral so many times painted by Monet.

The next town is called Honfleur, located at the estuary of the Seine river it has inspired painters, writers and musicians for centuries. You will enjoy a walk around the old dock and have time for lunch in a typical Norman bistrot (at your convenience).

The last stop of the tour will be Bayeux, the first French town to be liberated by the Allies on june 7th 1944 and very fortunate not to have been damaged during the War. You will visit the beautiful 12th century cathedral and the William the Conqueror’s centre where you can admire the Tapestry of Bayeux, a jewel of Romanesque style that relates in a very realistic account the events of the batlle of Hastings in 1066 and that is without doubt one of the accurate documents to survive from the Middle Ages.
