This tour will take you to some of the most charming towns of Brittany’s Southern Finistère region: Pont-Aven, Concarneau, Locronan and Quimper.

Your first stop is the quaint village of Pont-Aven. Known for its many mills and ports in the 19th century, it became a haven for artists because of its beauty and the quality its light. This led to the founding of the Pont-Aven School of painting in the style known as synthetism. Paul Gauguin was a member of this group and passed much productive time here before departing for French Polynesia. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings of this lovely locale.

Next stop: Concarneau is most famous for its historic center or “ville close” which is a walled and fortified town set on a small islet in the Moros estuary, measuring only 350X100 meters. Historically, this town was a ship building center where fishing also had an important economic role. Now, it is a haven of tourism as people come to see this quaint medieval town with its half timbered and granite houses. Visit the old town then enjoy free time to shop or dine on local specialties.

Locronan is part of the very select clubs of "Small Towns of Charachter" and "Most beautiful villages of France", and with good reason.

The final stop is the small medieval, inland city of Quimper. It is the oldest Breton city and its cathedral is the best example of Gothic religious architecture in Brittany. Enjoy a visit to this charming medieval town and its half timbered houses with slate roofs and distinctive Breton character. Spend time exploring the shops, acquire some of Quimper’s famous Faience pottery, made here since 1690, or sample local specialties.
