D-Day: The Canadian Sector

OVERVIEW

Journey to places where Canadian soldiers fought and died during the tide turning D-Day Invasion.

Your private odyssey begins with photo stops at Longues-sur-Mer, its big guns demonstrating the fire power the allies faced during the landing operations, and Arromanches where you'll see remnants of one of the two "Mulberry Harbors" constructed by the allies to land men, arms and supplies in the days following the invasion.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Next, you'll arrive at Juno Beach where the Canadian forces came ashore and visit the Juno Beach Centre museum to learn the heroic story of the brave Canadians who served in WWII. At this stop there will be time for a lunch break.

Juno Beach is followed by a visit to the Canadian Cemetery at Bèny-sur-Mer. You'll then move on to Villons-les-Buissons and a visit to the Abbaye d'Ardenne Memorial where Canadian prisoners of war went valiantly to their execution by their German captors.

On the way back to port, the excursion will conclude with a quick stop at Pegasus Bridge -- site of one of the first actions in the Invasion of Normandy.

Return to port.
