OVERVIEW

Located on the southeast coast of France, Marseille is France's largest city on the Mediterranean coast and largest commercial port. It is the capital of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, as well as the capital of the Bouches-du-Rhône department.

Cassis is a little seaside resort sitting at the foot of a very tall cliff called Cap Canaille. The town is a wonderful place to stroll about with its picturesque fishing port lined with cafes and restaurants.

You will enjoy a view on the so called "Vieux Port" of Marseille, then a stop at the sumptuous 19th century cathedral, see a fantastic panorama from the highest point of the city, the charming district of "Panier", the Great Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, the picturesque road of La Corniche, the fishing village of Vallon des Auffes and the religious fortress of St. Victor Basilica.

In the late morning you will reach the charming town of Cassis and have some free time for lunch and shopping.

In the afternoon we recommend you take a cruise (not included) to visit of the "calanques", a trip you shouldn't miss (45 mn to 1h30). Between Marseille and Cassis the coast is broken up by these "calanques", enticing fjord-like inlets lying between vertical white cliffs. The sight is fantastic.

Fom the panoramic road overlooking the bay of Cassis, you will stop to appreciate the fabulous landscape and if you are interested you can also stop in a winery to taste the renown Cassis white wine.
