Chianti-Land of Wine
OVERVIEW
The Chianti, located between Florence and Siena, is possibly Tuscany’s most recognizable landscape and has been known for its now world famous wine since 1398. The “Classico” area is Chianti’s historic heart. You’ll travel the old Chianti road, wending through the hilly Tuscan countryside amid vineyards and olive groves with hilltop castles in the distance.
This private driving tour in a comfortable, air conditioned vehicle allows you the flexibility to stop where you wish, spending your time as you prefer.
Your English-speaking driver will show you some of the area’s stunning views, stopping for panoramic photographs that you’ll treasure always.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
What visit to this legendary wine region would be complete without a winery visit? After your drive through the countryside, we’ll take you to the famous Castello Verrazzano for a guided visit of their historic cellars and wine estate along with a varied program of tastings from which you can choose, for an additional fee.
Next we’ll visit the charming town of Greve. Considered by many as the gateway to the Chianti. Originally the marketplace for Montefioralle Castle perched above, Greve’s strategic location at the juncture of 3 important roads led to its prosperity and growth.
This lovely village is noted for its triangular shaped, arcaded main square where many historical and interesting shops can be found. A delightful place to while away an hour or two!
