A tale of two invasions...
 
Learn about the two most important invasions in Norman history: the invasion and conquest of England by William II Duke of Normandy and the invasion of Normandy by the allied troops as the start of the campaign to liberate Europe from the clutches of the Nazi regime.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Your private journey of discovery will start in the city of Bayeux, where you'll view the famous Bayeux Tapestry, the world's largest embroidered cloth which depicts the events of William's invasion of England in 1066.
 
You'll have free time in Bayeux for lunch and/or further exploring before continuing to the coast for a visit to some of the sites of the Allied invasion of Normandy which took place on June 6, 1944.
 
First stop: Longues-sur-Mer to see the big guns of this German battery that demonstrate the fire power the allied landing forces faced.  Next you'll pay a short visit to Juno Beach and the Juno Beach Centre which chronicles the role of Canadian troops in the conflict that was WWII.
 
Your tour ends with the stirring experience of a visit to the Canadian Cemetery at Bèny-sur-Mer.
